I am 35 years old, living with stage IV Endometriosis, possibly adenomyosis and struggled with infertility for almost 4 years. I also struggled with PPD and now struggle with PMDD. I am a mother to a son that was born at 18 weeks and too precious for this earth; and now a mother to a son born in August 2011. By journaling here, I hope to benefit both for myself and for others that are dealing with this disease and fertility struggles. Thanks for visiting!

Liar liar

Whoever said that endo gets better with pregnancy is a big fat liar. I am in more pain than I've been in at LEAST a year. Maybe two. Not good times, let me tell you.

Seems that the wonderful progesterone that helps keep this baby safe also likes to play games with the digestive system. And, with my colon being stuck to my uterus... without being too descriptive..WOW. There are other stretching woes going on, but, they are bearable. Not so much the colon business.

What I've learned this week? Progesterone and adhesions are more powerful than gallons of water, fresh fruit and veggies, prune juice and colace. Know what helps? A warm glass of apple juice. So far. Who would have thought of that? Really?

I hope that this too shall pass!?!?

Yikes! Sorry you are having endo issues along with pregnancy - boo. I agree that whoever said that endo could be "cured" by pregnancy is full of it!
I too had a lot of digestive issues for the first trimester and most of the second, but it got better in the third (no idea why). I have stage IV endo as well, but they weren't nice enough to inform me what was stuck to what and where when they were in there. . .just that it was a mess and was everywhere. Nice. I hope it gets better SOON! Colace has never worked for me either. . .good luck finding something that does!

Allison,

I'm so sorry for your pain! Yeah, that pregnancy myth causes a very nasty surprise for those endo patients who have significant pain during pregnancy. Intestinal pain can be brutal.

I flat out told my dr she lied. She said, well you don't have periods and horrible cramps do you? I said no, but the pulling and stretching of endo adhesions attached to bowel, bladder, and lord knows what else is excruciating!

Hi there! I just stumbled across your blog & became a follower. I too suffer from endo & have had infertility issues with 2 miscarriages on top of the trials of conceiving. Having been told I would never have children, I have a 3 year old little boy & 6 month old baby girl. I found your blog very interesting & wanted to thank you for sharing your story. It's nice to have found someone I can relate to. Have a great week!

Ooh... I too have been told that endo is better with and after pregnancy too. Although when I mentioned that to my fertility specialist, she did say it was a bit of a myth. Stage IV here too, and I had lots of adhesions as well so it seems I am in for a real treat if I get pregnant! Hope you find some relief and that this was the last of your pain.
